GeorgiaCares provides unbiased, objective information and counseling regarding Medicare insurance programs and related options. Beneficiaries are screened to identify for available subsidies or cost savings. Included in GeorgiaCares is Georgia’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP). Trained SHIP volunteer counselors help Medicare beneficiaries sort through the complexities of Medicare and related health insurance concerns. Trained SMP volunteer counselors educate and inform Medicare beneficiaries regarding Medicare Fraud, errors and Abuse.
GeorgiaCares is a Private-Public Partnership, sponsored statewide by the Department of Human Resources, Division of Aging Services and the Area Agencies on Aging. The Partners include: Pharmaceutical companies, Pharmacies, Physicians, Hospitals, State Universities and other agencies.
