Go Red for Women’s Heart Health Day – Feb 3, 2012
Legacy Link sponsored a wellness exhibit at the Lakeshore Mall on Friday as part of the wear red for heart health day. Blood Pressure readings were offered to mall visitors as well as providing healthy eating and nutrition infornmation.
Seniors Rally at the Capital on January 26th
Legacy Link and Megabus.com sponsor trip to Atlanta.
Megabus.com provided a free bus to 30 Seniors from Banks, Habersham and Hall Counties to travel to the state capital in Atlanta for the Senior Rally. Representatives from around the state spoke on senior issues outside on the west side of the capital building. After the rally participants had a chance to tour the Capital Building and meet several senators and representatives.
SCSEP places ten employees
The goal of our Senior Community Service Employment Program is to transition workers from the program back into the work force. Skills gained by our senior workers while on the job as well as any additional training courses upgrade their skill set to make them more qualified to secure employment directly with companies or even start their own business.
The August-November transitions total 10, including 8 placements into permanent positions, 1 opening his own business and 1 to be hired in January. Placements have included apartment complexes, schools, restaurants, janitorial services, flower shops and store managers.
New Senior Center
Ground breaking for the new Towns County Senior Center was held on Wed. Nov. 2nd.
